Prince William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and heirs to the throne of England, recently expanded their household staff at their home in Kensington Palace, bringing their total number of personal assistants and domestic housekeepers to 12. According to Vanity Fair, the couple is also looking to hire a personal chef on full time at the palace. The most recent addition to their staff was an equerry, a military officer or other person of rank who acts as an attendant to a royal house. In March the two hired a live-in nanny for their son, Prince George.
While the royal couple had said they planned to keep their lives at Kensington Palace "low-key," the news source suggested that the pressures of royal life may have caught up with them. They also employ a personal secretary, a housecleaner and several aides between them to help run errands and perform other basic tasks.
The Daily Mail noted that the new position is rumored to be only temporary, and aides informed the news source that: "We anticipate a permanent equerry will be recruited in due course."
The equerry in question is 27-year-old Irish Guards officer Captain Florian Graham-Watson.
