POSITION SUMMARY

The Houseman is responsible for the upkeep of the exterior of the home and is a strong resource to the existing housekeeping team, ensuring the upkeep, cleanliness, and readiness of the residence for the semi-formal but humorous and enjoyable Principal. This position involves maintaining and cleaning the home to a higher standard, ensuring it is guest-ready. Primary duties include the setup and upkeep of fixtures, motor gates, garages, exterior furniture, pool deck setups, BBQ areas, inspection of fireplaces and general daily survey of the property. With the help of the Estate Manager, the Houseman will schedule, escort, inspect, and document vendor visits with the help of the maintenance schedule. Additional duties may include driving, butler-like duties, and errands for the family and the household team.

The Houseman may embody a hospitality approach, demonstrates thinking skills, and understands the value of communicating details, both large and small, with precision and confidence. The focus will be on the general upkeep of equipment, structures, grounds, and landscaping.

This full-time position reports to the local Estate Manager and is based on 40 hours a week. It has enormous growth potential into Household management. Use of a phone is required. A comfortable uniform will be provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilities Responsibilities

  • Conducting detailed daily inspections of the property to ensure standards are maintained and equipment functioning properly, respecting the privacy of the family
  • Keep shared maintenance files up to date
  • Maintain vehicles to the highest standard, charge/fill with gas, clean, check vehicles are fully stocked with all the
  • necessary items; maintain, clean and charge golf carts and e-bikes
  • Communicate and assist with scheduling common vendors like landscapers, pool cleaning, window cleaners etc.; escort vendors on property and inspect and approve worked performed.
  • Maintain household inventory of common maintenance products like lightbulbs, filters, salts etc.
  • Maintain a clean landscape, walkways, driveway, entry areas, Zen garden, outdoor Sauna
  • Dust and clean outdoor furniture, cover furniture when principals are out of town
  • Setup seasonal furniture
  • Set expectations with landscapers, remind vendors to check irrigation zones and cross check
  • Inspect outdoor lighting fixtures. Clean, re-align and check for proper function
  • Communicate with Estate Manager on ongoing projects

Household Responsibilities

  • Conduct interior walkthrough and check lightbulbs, TV’s, HVAC, heating systems, security system, AV systems, Wifi speed, fireplaces, clocks
  • Assist in maintenance of household appliances
  • Maintain household supply levels and restock as needed using Amazon or in-person shopping
  • Cleaning and decalcifying of shower heads
  • Dust tall light fixtures and ceilings
  • Breakdown of trash, recycling and proper dispose to assigned trash areas
  • Inspect and spot clean windows and glass balcony floors in between monthly professional cleanings.
  • Occasional driving of staff members, family or company associates
  • Assist in furniture setups for parties and events
  • Pet care: In coordination with Estate Manager, feed, walk, play with family dogs. Check dog areas for cleanliness.
  • Occasional driving of dogs.
  • Inspect gym equipment and ensure proper function
  • On vendor day, ensure proper protection is in place, shoe covers being used, etc.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned by the Estate Manager
