Professional social media platform LinkedIn has recently introduced a brand new mobile feature that allows members to share personal photographs on the site through their mobile devices. This new app allows prospective employers and those in your network to get a glimpse of you as a person and as an employee. After all, they say a picture is worth a thousand words.
If you're wondering what types of snapshots to upload, take a look at these helpful guidelines:
- Inspire others: Many people use LinkedIn as a source of inspiration, since this site can help them tackle a new professional endeavor. Why don't you share a powerful quote with all of your connections? Or, you can take a photo of a great book you are reading. If you don't know where to start, simply snap a photo of your Monday morning coffee with an inspirational caption such as "Looking forward to the week ahead."
- Show off your work environment: "Rather than using the typical headshot, try having someone take a shot of you in the midst of your work – during a presentation or practicing a big speech – or even in front of the oven in your kitchen whites if you're a chef," LinkedIn's career expert Nicole Williams tells AOL.
- Reveal what you're like after the nine-to-five: To give prospective employers a chance to see you outside of the office, share photos that are taken after your workday. However, posting photos of you getting drunk at happy hour aren't going to look very professional. Instead, opt to share an image of a networking event you went to after work.
