Estate Gardener needed for an Estate in Montecito, CA! Starting hourly rate $35 an hour with full benefits.

Job Responsibilities

The Landscape Maintenance Gardener is responsible for the installation and care of the plants and trees in the garden.  Working independently and as part of a team, the individual will be expected to utilize the resources given to create an environment for the enjoyment of all clients and guests on the property.

Duties:

• Plant and maintain ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns and apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments
• Mow, weed, trim, cut, water, rake, power wash and maintain all outdoor areas
• Safely and effectively operate hand tools, power equipment including, power mowers, edgers, string trimmers, chainsaws, and rototillers
• Assist with minor pest management
• Responsible for maintaining and cleaning all outdoor areas
• Work independently and part of a team while reporting to the Landscape Manager
• Follow instructions relating to all phases of work and implement as necessary.

Job Qualifications:

• US Work Authorization required
• Previous landscape and gardening work experience required. 
• Casual gardening and maintenance for neighbors or one’s own home yard is not sufficient.
• High school or GED preferred
• Transportation to work and the ability to be on time
• Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred

Physical Demands:

A qualified Landscape Maintenance Gardener must have the:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to use hand tools: brooms, rakes, shovels, saws, loppers, trimmers, backpack sprayers, and other hand tools; Motorized equipment: walk behind power mowers, edgers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, power trimmers, chain saws, rototillers, power augers, sod cutter, walk behind trencher, motorized herbicide sprayer, and other power tools.
• Ability to stand, crawl, walk and stoop; push and pull objects up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in wet weather and in fluctuating and extreme temperatures.  Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions.
• Ability to use hand trucks, dollies, wheelbarrows, carts, etc.
• This is a regular, non-exempt, 40 hour per week position. Periodic overtime required depending on property needs
• A reference check will be required for this position.
