Executive Sous Chef based in Scottsdale, AZ!! $125K + full benefits

The Executive Sous Chef (ESC) is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in preparing daily meals for Principals, their family, and guests based in Arizona. This includes, but is not limited to, planning weekly menus, grocery shopping, cooking, serving, and cleaning up for daily meals. The ESC will assist in preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the Principals, family, and guests daily. The Executive Sous Chef’s priority is to provide delicious food and to be well-versed in healthy cooking styles and nutrition. This role must also have an easy-going, pleasant, and professional demeanor. The
ESC will assist in providing meals for the Principals while at their primary residence and travel to additional US residences when needed. The ESC must have experience providing hands-on personal service in a fully staffed, significantly sized home, hotel/resort, or club. Flexibility on days and hours will be required. This position will report to the Executive Chef.

  • Meal Preparation— Assist the Executive Chef in preparing food and beverages when required (i.e., breakfasts, lunches, and dinners) for Principals, family, and guests. Provide breakfast buffet items/preparation as requested by the Principals. Support with meal service, including table setting, clearing dishes, and general clean-up.
  • Planning— Assist in planning weekly menus and shopping for, cooking, serving, and clean-up daily meals.
  • Collaboration — Create a customized menu in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
  • Shopping — Shopping for meal ingredients as well as necessary kitchen tools and equipment, inspecting meal ingredients before making purchases to ensure that they are of the highest quality.

  • Attention to Detail—Assist the Executive Chef in maintaining detailed records to determine meal preferences, specifications, food allergies, and dietary restrictions.
  • Nutrition—The ESC must have a strong understanding of nutrition, have sound knowledge of different cuisines, and be well-versed in multiple cooking techniques.
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing— Cleaning and sanitizing work areas before and after meal preparation, as well as maintaining a clean work area and preparing meals in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Deep Cleaning — Assist in developing and overseeing deep cleaning processes, checklists, and schedules.
  • o    Kitchen Inventories – Monitor and stock pantry and other household necessities. Keep an eye on expirations and low stock. Communicate stock purchasing that is needed with the Executive Chef. Keep track of food inventories.
  • o    Professionalism – A quiet, professional, and respectful demeanor is required. The individual must be comfortable working in a private home kitchen and respect the privacy of the homeowners.
  • Travel – The ESC will assist in providing meals for the Principals, family, and guests while in residence at their primary residence and will travel when needed. Appropriate travel documentation is required.
  • Flexibility – Flexibility on days and hours will be required.
  • Proactively maintain open lines of communication to resolve issues effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Degree from an accredited culinary school with two years of related experience.
  • At least five years of experience in a private residence, hospitality, or resort setting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within a high-service, action-oriented private household environment with high accountability levels. Adept in private service environments.
  • Excellent working knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
  • Physical strength and stamina to work for extended hours. Able to lift at least 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Meticulous with refined attention to detail.
  • Experience in maintaining the confidentiality, safety, security, and privacy of a private employer.
  • Highly professional with excellent communication skills.
  • Must have experience supporting complex travel, hospitality, event, and entertaining requirements.
  • Must have a US Passport and the flexibility to travel as required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, smartphone, text savvy, messaging apps, and electronic means of communication.
