Position: Part-Time Nanny / Family Assistant
Location: Topanga and Santa Monica, California
Schedule:
Part-Time – Approximately 22 hours per week
All hours need to be extremely flexible, with the ability to travel with the family
Typical schedule expectation:
● Friday approximately 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM
● Saturday approximately 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
● Sunday approximately 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Weekend hours may adjust depending on the family’s schedule and needs. Additional hours may be requested during school breaks, travel, or special events.
Role Overview:
A private family is seeking a proactive, patient, and organized part-time Nanny / Family Assistant to provide weekend childcare and support for two children ages 10 and 5. The candidate must have training and experience working with children. Prefer a comfortable, calm, flexible environment while supporting routines, school responsibilities, and engaging activities. The role includes childcare, school transportation, activity planning, and light household support related to the children and family.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare:
- Provide attentive care for two children ages 10 and 5
- Maintain a calm, patient, and emotionally supportive environment
- Support daily routines and transitions
- Utilize collaborative caregiving strategies
- Model patience, flexibility, and respectful communication to support positive behavioral outcomes
School Support: - Drive children to and from school when needed
- Assist with homework and school-related tasks
- Help maintain awareness of school schedules, assignments, and activity commitments
Activities & Engagement: - Plan and supervise engaging activities and outings
- Examples may include parks, beach activities, amusement parks, arcades, or other local experiences/activities
- Encourage creative, educational, and age-appropriate engagement
- Foster independence, curiosity, and confidence through supportive guidance
Transportation: - Safely drive children to school, appointments, and activities
- A family vehicle will be provided for transportation
Household Support (Child Related): - Prepare school bags, activity items, and daily essentials
- Help maintain organization of children’s belongings, play areas, and personal spaces
- Prepare light meals or snacks for the children when needed
Travel:
The candidate must be open to occasional travel with the family. Travel may occur during school breaks, holidays, or family trips. Frequency may vary from once per month to once every few months depending on the family schedule. If responsible for childcare during travel, compensation may include 24-hour coverage or adjusted travel pay depending on responsibilities during the trip.
Qualifications: - Familiarity with Collaborative Problem Solving
- Previous nanny, family assistant, or household childcare experience required
- Comfortable assisting with homework for school-aged children
- Strong organization, planning, and time management skills
- Patient, calm, emotionally intelligent, and adaptable personality
- Ability to remain flexible as family schedules and needs evolve. The caregiver should also be comfortable working collaboratively with parents and other professionals to maintain consistency in support strategies.
Requirements - Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Comfortable driving children to school and activities
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred
- Background check required
Compensation & Employment Structure:
● Part-time payroll employee
● $50 per hour
● Approximately 20 – 24 hours per week
